Empirical reports suggest that Aamir Khan’s upcoming venture ‘Dangal’ will be filmed at Turkey. Earlier, Hrithik Roshan along with his cast and crew was seen shooting in Spain for his movie ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara.’ Various stories have brought out that that the Ministry of Tourism of Turkey has sent an invitation to the actor to film parts of his movie in Turkey.
For the people who are yet clueless about Aamir’s next pursuit, ‘Dangal’ is a biopic on the life of a retired wrestler, coach Mahavir Singh Phogat. Phogat is the father of the sister-wrestlers Geeta and Babita. He himself has coached his two daughters in the sport. Geeta Phogat, at the behest of his father, became India’s first female wrestler to win gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, while Babita Kumari managed to bag the silver medal. Blame the fascination for the actor that is spread worldwide, reportedly, the Turkish Ambassador who is an ardent admirer of Aamir, himself extended an invitation to shoot his film there. In addition to this, he has also given a word for full co-operation from the local authorities.
Wrestling is popular in Turkey the same way it is in India. People there have the same enthusiasm for the game, just like the famous ‘Kushti’ in India. It was in the 10th century, that this game started gaining prominence. In fact, even today, matches are held all over the Eurasian country. The spirit for this sport is so high that every summer the authorities of Turkey officially organise a three-day carnival in Kirkpinar and the winner is crowned ‘Baspehlivan’ or the ‘Chief Wrestler’ of Turkey.
This epic film will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and the film is believed to be started rolling in Turkey. This movie will surely remind you of the Indian art of wrestling. This is an art that must not be swept under the carpet and must be told, imbibed and learnt from.
